It is not recommended to perform investigations when managing patients with fleeting sensory symptoms unless clinically indicated. These are directed by taking a neurological history, examining the patient and having a differential diagnosis. Transient sensory symptoms are extremely common and often have a benign cause, so patients should be referred or investigated onlyn where there is clinical uncertainty of the diagnosis.
