The randomized clinical trial RECOVERY (Randomised Evaluation of COVid-19 theERapY) studies a series of possible therapeutic alternatives for patients hospitalized with COVID-19, including dexamethasone. The study has so far recruited more than 11,500 patients from over 175 NHS hospitals in the UK. Overall, dexamethasone was found to reduce the 28-day mortality rate by 17% with a greater benefit among those patients who required mechanical ventilation.
