It showed no tangible efficacy in comparative trials in ovarian cancer or soft-tissue sarcomas but has very frequent and severe gastrointestinal, haematological, hepatic and muscular adverse effects. It is unreasonable to add trabectedin to platinum-based chemotherapy for ovarian cancer. When chemotherapy is ineffective in patients with soft-tissue sarcomas, it is best to focus on symptomatic treatments, to limit the clinical consequences of the disease.
