The USPSTF recommends the use of aspirin for women ages 55 to 79 years when the potential benefit of a reduction in ischemic strokes outweighs the potential harm of an increase in gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Recommendation Grade A

The USPSTF recommends the use of aspirin for men ages 45 to 79 years when the potential benefit due to a reduction in myocardial infarctions outweighs the potential harm due to an increase in gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Recommendation Grade A

In this systematic review, the authors searched for comparative effectiveness studies of interventions to change or improve outpatient referrals aimed at primary care physicians. They did their most recent search in October 2007. They included 17 studies evaluating professional educational (9 studies), organisational (4) and financial interventions (4), mostly conducted in the UK.
